NSW Government Launches Metering and Implementation Grants, Offering Substantial Funding to Boost Energy Efficiency in Businesses

The NSW Government has recently announced Metering and Implementation Grants for business owners. This initiative presents a significant opportunity for eligible businesses to advance in energy efficiency and cost management. About the Funding

An impressive sum of $1.5 million is available in round 1 of the funding. Businesses can apply for a grant of up to $100,000 (excluding GST), which can cover up to 50% of the eligible project costs. Projects must be completed within 6 months of the funding deed’s start date. Businesses should act quickly to capitalise on this opportunity, as the first round closes on 14 June 2024 or sooner if the funding is fully allocated.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this grant, applicants must meet specific criteria:

• A current energy metering and monitoring plan, no more than 3 years old, reflecting your site’s present processes and systems.
• Detailed cost breakdown supported by itemised quotes valid at the application time.
• An Australian Business Number (ABN) and registration for GST.
• The proposed metering plan implementation project must be located at a NSW site address.
• Annual energy expenditure of at least $200,000 at the site, including all purchased fuels (excluding transport fuel).
• Possession of a complex energy system, which may include multiple processes, distribution systems, energy types, and end uses.
• For commercial building applications, only the base building is eligible, and the occupancy certificate must have been issued before 1 January 2022.
